NHL Parity Made Predictions More Challenging
The Florida Panthers victory over the Edmonton Oilers in 7 games in the Stanley Cup Finals marked the completion of 15 individual playoff series. Florida proved to be the best team in the league and were the favorites from the outset. Yet, many of the individual series were toss ups, are the margins of victory very slim. This demonstrated the parity in the league, which made predictions more challenging.
Analysts Results
Two of GDH’s four Analysts had elite scores and two were mediocre. A Canadian bias was also at play in the decision making:

P Dunn had 13 of 15 correct predictions of the 15 series, which included the finals. An incredible score. His two incorrect predictions were basically bookends to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He picked Toronto and Edmonton, with Canadian coloured glasses. Both of those series came down to one goal in a game seven situation. Who knows what may have happened if Toronto had got passed Boston – All Canadian Final? Toronto would have had to beat Florida in the next round on the way to the Finals…but maybe.
C Mac was very close behind with a good score with 12 of 15 correct predictions. An elite score of which GDH is very proud.
Our other two Analysts produced mediocre scores and put forth a good effort D Mac and B Mac had correctly picked 9 Series and 8 series respectfully.
It was a terrific 2024 Stanley Cup Playoff and much fun had by all. Now on to the 2024/2025 season. Perhaps a Stanley Cup Champion in 2025 from Canada, EH!!

Greetings. In introducing myself, I must relate that family is most important. I am a husband, father and grandfather. Beautiful extended family. I was born in the 60’s. Graduated from Laurentian University in Sudbury in 1985 with a degree in Social Work. Recently retired.
Sports has been and continues to be my foremost outlet for stress. I have been a coach/ trainer on over 40 youth teams, including hockey, baseball and soccer. Hockey is my number one sport. Began playing as a young child and continue to play several times per week. Huge Fan. I am not an expert per say when it comes to having close contacts to the hockey world. Still have expertise as a Fan. I have probably earned some form of “Hockey PTSD” over the years with the highs and lows of the cheering for the Leafs. I want to respectfully share my opinion and respectfully view your opinions. Should be fun. Keep your stick on the ice.
Take Care and Stay Safe.
