The 4 Nations Face-Off Championship Game is scheduled for tonight, February 20 at 8:00 PM in Boston. This is a much anticipated Final, that also included teams from Finland and Sweden. The skill of many of the best players in the world has been on display and at a fast pace.

Canada played the USA in the round-robin portion of the tournament, with the USA edging out a 3-1 victory. That game featured three fights to start the game, heightening the excitement of this storied rivalry.

This game should live up to the hype that has developed due the level of play in the tournament and the political issues that have surfaced due to President Trump’s threats of wanting to make Canada the 51st State.

Trump Factor

USA President Donald Trump has made an negative impact to the overall lives of Canadians. He has vocalized his desire to make Canada it’s 51st State, not by military conflict, but through economic means.

Canadian Fans have made their feelings well known by “Booing” the American Anthem at recent NHL and 4 Nations Face-Off games that have been played in Canada. A number of folks on both sides of the border view Booing an Anthem as a sign of disrespect. It may be so.

However, Canadian citizen’s are now on the front line of Trumps economic conflict, with his goal of obtaining Canada. Canadian’s are viewed world wide as being kind and caring people. What can Canadians do to deliver a message to all of America that “this has to stop”? Many Canadian’s are already going out of their way to not buy anything produced in the USA. It seems that “Booing” the Anthem is at least getting the attention of folks below the Canadian border. If Trump gets his way, there will be no more Canada, no more Canadian Flag and no more Canadian Anthem.

Team USA General Manager invited Trump to the Championship Game. He turned down the invite due to a previous engagement. But, he also poked fun and was disrespectful to Canada once again by calling Canada the 51st state and making fun of Canada’s Prime Minister. Thus, disrespecting all Canadians.

Not sure how Canadians who are attending the Championship game will react to the USA Anthem given that the game is Boston, but will be interesting to watch.

Back to hockey. Go Canada Go!!
