Round 2 Featured Exciting Hockey And No True Surprises
Round 2 included the Semi-Finals from both Conferences.
The Western Conference Semi-Finals had the Colorado Avalanche convincingly handle a very good Minnesota Wild squad 4 games to 1 and the Vegas Golden Knights beat the young Anaheim Ducks 4 games to 2.
Colorado’s victory over Minnesota in only 5 games could be a surprise given the strength of the Wild and perhaps a statement. They look strong and may be the team to beat in this years playoffs. The Vegas Golden Knights emerge as the strongest team of a weak division. They have much experience, but had an underwhelming regular season. Will they give the President Trophy winning team a competitive series?
The Eastern Conference Semi-Finals had the Carolina Hurricanes walk over the Philadelphia Flyers in 4 games and the Montreal Canadians battled the Buffalo Sabres to a 7 game victory.
Carolina may have made a statement of their own with the sweep of the Flyers and they look strong. Montreal and Buffalo produced a very exciting series between two impressive young teams on the rise. Montreal has arrived and they may give Carolina all or more than they can handle.
GDH Mystic Challenge Standings and Predictions For The Conference Finals

Colin Mac was the only Mystic to correctly predict all 4 series. This vaulted him into a first place tie with Mystic Phil and Mystic CMAC 3130. The scorekeeper had to refer to the Tie Breaking stats to finalize current standings. Mystic Phil and Mystic Colin Mac edged out Mystic CMac 3130 for first place Honours after Round 2.
Mystic Anna D’s tea leaves must have had some mould on them as she dropped in the standings with only 1 correct prediction.

Greetings. In introducing myself, I must relate that family is most important. I am a husband, father and grandfather. Beautiful extended family. I was born in the 60’s. Graduated from Laurentian University in Sudbury in 1985 with a degree in Social Work. Recently retired.
Sports has been and continues to be my foremost outlet for stress. I have been a coach/ trainer on over 40 youth teams, including hockey, baseball and soccer. Hockey is my number one sport. Began playing as a young child and continue to play several times per week. Huge Fan. I am not an expert per say when it comes to having close contacts to the hockey world. Still have expertise as a Fan. I have probably earned some form of “Hockey PTSD” over the years with the highs and lows of the cheering for the Leafs.
